Regional Job Resources
Here's the first post in a series of regional job resources. If there is enough interest in regional resources, we might add this as a regular section of Jobfiler. Meanwhile, today's featured region is Texas. Here are some resources for working in various cities in Texas.

Bad References.com
Bad References.com: Documented Reference Check

If you are wondering why you're acing your interviews but not getting the final job offers, perhaps your references are to blame. There are several services out there who will check your references for you for a fee, or you can ask a friend to do this - simply have them call you references, posing as a potential employer, and see what they have to say.

Resume Writing
Resume Writing

Here is a web site that will help you create a professionally formatted resume for print or web, for free. They also offer a "tracking center" tool for tracking where you send your resume, for which they charge $20/year to use. I've checked out both the resume generator and the tracker - I think that the free resume generator is a solid tool worth checking out. It's just my own personal opinion of course, but I think that Jobfiler offers a better toolset for job search organization and tracking. Now, if only we had resume building online!

Fuck That Job!
F--k That Job!

Here's a fun one... a compilation of job postings from all over the internet - jobs no sane person would want, that is. From being the crazy cat lady's assistant to the Monster post which states " If you need a paycheck next week, or within a matter of a few months, this is not the right opportunity for you.", this site is definitely worth a visit, if only to break up the monotony of the day-to-day job search!

9NEWS.com - Newsroom
I heard on the news this morning that while the economy is improving, it's doing so under "jobless growth", which means that companies are finding ways to improve profitability without hiring additional workers and/or they are reducing their labor costs by hiring cheaper workers. The good news is that they are actually projecting some real job growth next year, although I don't know if it will be enough to offset the number of jobs lost over the past few years in Colorado.
