The Jobseeker's Desktop

Section 1: Job Search at a Glance | Open Inquiries

The top left corner of your Jobseeker's Desktop is the Job Search Inquiries interface, where the majority of your job search activities are tracked. The desktop view shows a listing of all your "open" job inquiries only. To view all Open and Closed inquiries, click on the View All Jobs link at the top of the section.

About Status: Job Inquiries can have a status of either Open or Closed, or you can delete the record altogether by clicking on the trash can icon. Note: if you close a record, you can always reopen it, but if you delete a record, it's gone - you cannot have it back.

To add a new job inquiry, click on the Add Job link at the top of the section. This brings you to a data entry form where you can enter as much (or as little) information about the job as you wish. The only required fields are the Company Name and Position Title fields, and you can put any information you have, including the Recruiter or simply put "Blind Ad" if you don't know the company name.

To edit an inquiry, select the edit icon from either the desktop or the edit link from the "View All Jobs" page view. Use edit to add more information about the job, including response date, interview date, comments, etc.

To close a record, click on the file cabinet icon on the desktop view or the close link from the "View All Jobs" page view. I recommend closing positions which have been filled, or for which you have not received a response within 4-6 weeks. You can always reopen a position by selecting the edit link from the "View All Jobs" page view, then setting the status to OPEN.
