Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I track my jobs using JobFiler?
A: Login to your account, then select "Add New Inquiry". This will open up a form for you to fill in, with the information about your job inquiry. If you are applying to a job which is posted online, we recommend that you copy/paste the text of the job description into the form field. You can also cut/paste your resume into the Resume field, or just indicate the filename of the resume you submitted for this job. When you have filled in all the field, click on Add Record to save the information to your job tracker.

Q: If I track my job hunt using Job Filer, will anyone else have access to my records?
A: No. Your data is kept private, only accessible to your unique username/password login combination.

Q.What should I do if I forget my password?
A: Click on the book for a hint. If you run a pop-up blocker, you will need to disable the blocker for this site in order to use the password retrieval function. When you enter your username, email address and the answer to your secret question, the system will show you the password hint that you set when you registered for your account. If that doesn't help you to recall your password, you will then have the option to set a new password for your account.

Q. Can I post my resume online on JobFiler.com?
A: Yes, you can post your resume as a pdf file or online, in the forums under Resume Bank.

Q. I need to provide my state unemployment department with proof of job search. Can I do that with Jobfiler?
A: Yes, you can print that up directly from your jobseeker's desktop (click on view all inquiries), then either print that page or select the records and paste them into Notepad or Word. We also can provide custom database extracts, sorted by date or other variables - see below.

Q. I've completed my job search! Is there a way to extract my job search records to a flat file for archiving?
A: Yes, we offer database extracts upon request, and charge a small administrative fee of $5.00 to cover our time to process your request. Click on the link below to order, or contact us for more information.

Q. There's a job site that I use that you don't have listed. What should I do?
A: You can add the site to your personal link list, or if you feel that the site is really, really good and you want us to consider adding it to the main index page, contact us with a description of the web site, the url, and why you like it. Please note that we do not list sites on our main page which require users to pay for membership, however, you can always add those sites to your job site list.

Q. I added some links to my personal links list, but the links are not working properly. When you add a link and then click on it, the browser puts the jobfiler.com in front of the link. For example: http://www.jobfiler.com/www.coloradoSpringshelpwanted.com. Am I doing something wrong, when I add this link?? Or should the format be different??
A: The links page requires that you put the full URL in the box, including the http://. If you do not include the http://, the site presumes that the link is still within our domain. To correct this on a link you have already listed, select Edit Links, then update the link accordingly.

Q. When I mark a job as completed with a red checkmark ( file) it, where does it go? Is it retrievable? What is the difference between marking it with a red checkmark and putting it in the trash?

A: If you file a job, that changes the status from Open to Closed, and it no longer will appear on your main desktop. You can still view Closed jobs if you select View All Jobs from the header bar. If you put it in the trash, it marks that job as deleted, and you will not be able to retrieve the job or reopen it.

Q. I like the application, but it could be better. How can I offer suggestions for improvement?
A: We are always open to comments and suggestions from our users. If you have a suggestion, please contact us.

Q. I own a recruiting web site. Do you offer the application for use on other web sites?
A: Yes, we do offer the application for use on other web sites. Please contact us to find out more about options and pricing.

Q. This is terrific! How can I help?
A: There are several ways that you can help JobFiler to grow in 2004. You can help us out by participating in the user group discussions, as well as contributing to the Job Files using the "Got an opinion? Shout Out " feature. Since our service is free, our sole source of financial support is currently through our advertisers, so if you take a moment to visit them through our web site, that is also appreciated. If you have a web site, please link to us. Finally, if you have any suggestions for the site, please contact us.
