- The Technology Strategy Board (TSB) has announced that 12 research projects are set to receive in excess of £15m toward the development of more energy efficient lighting, lasers and displays.
- Javelin Joint Venture
- The Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture has received a $111.6m US Army Global War on Terror supplemental contract to produce additional Javelin missiles and command launch units.
- Developing separation technology
- E.ON Energie has signed cooperation agreements with international partners to further develop technologies for separating CO2 from flue gases in three of its power stations.
- A successful debut
- Bombardier Aerospace has announced that its prototype CRJ1000 NextGen regional jet has undergone a successful inaugural flight, clocking up over three hours in the air and reaching a maximum speed of 481km/h.
- Coach class
- A consortium comprising Siemens and Bombardier has received an order worth €189m from the Swiss Federal Railways for the supply of 121 low-floor intermediate double-deck coaches

- The Spanish government has awarded General Dynamics Santa Barbara Sistemas €64.6m to supply RG-31 Mk5E mine protected vehicles for its army.
